February in Review

February flew by and can't believe it is already the middle of March! Time flies when you're having fun!

The month started out rough - our new water heater in our new house went out on January 31st. I woke up that Saturday and could only get kind of warm water in the shower. Lee wasn't able to re-light the pilot light so we knew that spelled bad news. A plumbing guy came out and $100 told us what we already knew, but gave us details - somehow there was an internal leak and the pipes were done for. Fabulous....and then came the crazy part. For a mere $1300, he'd be more than happy to put in a new one. Are you kidding me? Thankfully, we are blessed with amazing friends who let us move in for 3 days, found a contractor who could switch it out for free since it was under warranty and who put it in for $150. Stressful, but over now.

That same day, we were supposed to go to dinner at our friends Lance and Amber. I was going to cancel due to our drama, but they were letting us stay with them while our water heater was being fixed so we decided to go ahead even though by this time we were 2 hours late for dinner. When we show up, it turns out it was a surprise party for my birthday! They didn't even tell Lee so we had no idea - our friends were so patient and waited this whole time so they could celebrate with us. It made a very tiring day so much better!

My birthday was on Wednesday which was great because we got to be at Bible class. I've been teaching the 5th grade on Wednesday nights (and will be until the summer) and am friends with some of them on Facebook. So of course they knew it was my birthday and sang to me. What fun!

I had a band concert on the afternoon of the 6th. Nothing too exciting, but we had a great attendance.

Valentine's Day was a disappointment - my wonderful husband got me my 11th bouquet of roses for Valentine's Day, but came down with an awful cold. So it was chicken soup and rest that weekend.

My wonderful friend at work, Regina, is due to have a baby at the end of March so we celebrated by throwing her a baby shower on the 15th. It was so much fun, and she got so many things! I was in charge of writing down all the gifts and while she opened everything, I got a lesson on many things baby. So much stuff is required! Glad we're not there just yet!

Then the 19th we had a group from work go to a restaurant south of Knoxville for an eating challenge. The challenge was to eat a 30-oz hamburger (that's 3 patties!) and 1 lb of fries! If you do it in 30 minutes, you get your picture on the 'Wall of Fame' and a T-shirt. In 45 minutes, you get only the T-shirt. So we had 3 brave guys willing to give this a shot. Two completed it in 30 minutes and the other made the 45-minute mark. To say the least, I could never do this and was a little gross to watch at times.

Cody was one of the brave that took this challenge on.
Look at all those fries!!

Our baby shower hostesses - all such great friends!

My Valentine's Day gifts. Flowers and chocolate strawberries from the best husband in the world and an Outback gift card from my parents.
